This year the bio-industry received a local boost after Lambton College Research & Innovation announced the receipt of two separate grants totalling $2.75M. The new funding will be used to support bio-focused companies with their research, development, and innovation needs.
The first grant, valued at $1.75M over five years, was received on behalf of the Natural Science & Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) – Technology Access Centre (TAC). The funding is meant to support the transition of the College’s current Bio-Industrial Process Research Centre (BPRC) into a Technology Access Centre (TAC).
TAC provides funding that helps private partners, especially SMEs, access specialized technology, equipment and expertise, as well as funding to partners to help enhance their productivity and innovation needs.
This goal of BPRC-TAC is to expand its existing services and capacity to provide a more robust portfolio of applied research, technical, and specialized training services.
